The London Natural History Society (LNHS) are proposing to update the Flora of Greater London.

The previous Flora of Greater London, edited by Rodney Burton, was published in 1983 and since that time there are likely to have been many changes. It is therefore planned to resurvey the area to show what has been happening to the flora across the capital.

This is part of a wider project which will lead to the preparation of a 3rd Atlas of the British & Irish Flora, due for publication in 2024.

People interested in surveying the plants of their local area are being asked to try and list all the plant species they can find within a chosen 1km square on the Ordnance Survey map.

Within the Bromley area, Joyce Pitt has been asked to oversee the recording of 1km squares within the grid square TQ46 and that part of TQ47 which is within Greater London.

If you would like to be involved in this exciting project please contact me, Judith John, to check whether your chosen 1km square is already being surveyed and what information needs to be recorded.
